Quick Clone

Quick Clone is a fast way to duplicate an issue – or even a full hierarchy – with just one click. It skips all configuration steps and cloning screens, using default settings to create a copy instantly. Ideal for repetitive tasks that don’t need customization.

✅ When to use this

Use Quick Clone when you want to:

  • Instantly duplicate an issue or epic with its children
  • Skip configuration and preview steps to save time
  • Quickly reuse recurring tasks, templates, or standard workflows
  • Maintain a consistent structure across teams and sprints

    🛠️ How it works

    1. Select the issue you want to clone.
    2. Click the Quick clone option in the Operations menu
    3. In the Quick Clone form, you can select the following checkboxes:
        • Sub-tasks to include sub-tasks in the clone
        • Attachments, if attachments should be duplicated together with work items
        • Comments to copy comments as part of the clone
        • Links to keep existing relations and dependencies after cloning
        • Add prefix to work item summary CLONE – to add the prefix to the Summary field of any cloned work items.
    4. In the work item hierarchy list:
      • Tick the checkboxes next to the child issues you want to clone.
      • You can select all child issues or only specific ones to include in the clone.

    💡 Tips

    • Templates can be single work items (e.g. recurring task) or entire structures (e.g. Epic → Stories → Sub-tasks)
    • You can build templates using native Jira features only – no scripts or custom apps required
    • Combine with placeholders for even more dynamic templates
