Smart Checklists for Jira (TitanApps) integration

Clone Expert can clone checklists created with Smart Checklists for Jira as long as the checklist content is stored in a Jira field, Checklist automatically added to your instance when you install the Smar checklist app. When the field is present on the issue screen, Clone Expert treats it like any other Jira field: it will be included in the clone and can be edited in the Preview Table. This integration applies to both:

How it works

Smart Checklists stores checklist content in a Jira field named “Checklist”.
If this field is added to the relevant Jira screen(s), Clone Expert will:

  • clone the checklist content together with the work item,
  • allow you to edit the checklist in the Preview Table (as plain text),
  • create the checklist on the cloned work item, as long as the text structure/format is kept valid.

✅ Required setup (Jira)

Add the field Checklist to the relevant issue screen(s).

If you can’t add it by yourself, contact your Jira administrator.

See details in Smart Checklist for Jira documentation.

Check if you use the right Checklist field

Field naming can vary by configuration. Use the field provided by the Smart Checklists app (not a similarly named custom text field).

Once the Checklist field is added to screens, no additional configuration is required.

If you want to edit the checklist in the preview table before cloning, follow the instructions below.

Editing checklists before cloning (Preview Table)

You can edit the checklist in Clone Expert, but only as text.

    1. Add Checklist Text to the Preview Table.
In the Additional Fields section, search for “Checklist” and select it.

    1. Edit the field value in the Preview Table.
Use the edit option in the table to modify the checklist as plain text.
    2. Keep the correct text structure.
Smart Checklist from TitanApps parses the checklist from text, so keep the same formatting to avoid breaking items after cloning.

    Checklist item statuses after cloning

Clone Expert clones only the checklist items and their hierarchy by copying the content of the Checklist field (the same way Jira native cloning copies standard field values).

Although the checklist status information is stored in the Checklist custom field, statuses are not applied to the cloned issue.

    Result after cloning:
When the new work items are created, all checklist items start with the default status To Do.

    What is cloned:

    • checklist items (content),
    • checklist hierarchy (grouping/structure).

    What is not preserved:

    • checklist item statuses (Done / In progress).
After cloning, they are reset to To Do on the newly created work item.
