Clone Jira checklists with Clone Expert (HeroCoders Checklists for Jira)

Clone Expert can clone Jira issue checklists created with Checklists for Jira by HeroCoders (Free, Pro, and Enterprise).
This works when the checklist is synced to a Jira custom field (Checklist Text), so Clone Expert can copy it like any standard Jira field.

To clone HeroCoders checklists, complete the setup below.

    ✅ Required setup (HeroCoders)

    In HeroCoders Global Settings, enable Sync checklists to Custom Fields.

    ✅ Required setup (Jira)

    Add the Jira custom field Checklist Text to the relevant issue screen(s).

    Make sure you select Checklist Text (not Checklist Text (view-only)).

    If you can’t add it by yourself, contact your Jira administrator.

      Once enabled, Clone Expert will clone the checklist automatically because it is stored in a standard Jira custom field.

      If you want to edit the checklist in the preview table before cloning, follow the instructions below.

      Editing checklists before cloning (Preview Table)

      You can edit the checklist in Clone Expert, but only as text.

      1. Add Checklist Text to the Preview Table.
        In the Additional Fields section, search for “Checklist Text” and select it (use Checklist Text, not Checklist Text (view-only)).

      1. Edit the field value in the Preview Table.
        Use the edit option in the table to modify the checklist as plain text.
      2. Keep the correct text structure.
        HeroCoders parses the checklist from text, so keep the same formatting to avoid breaking items after cloning.

      💡 Enterprise note: Global checklists

      HeroCoders Global checklists (Enterprise feature) are not cloned as separate objects.
      However, they are automatically attached to the cloned work item, so the same Global checklist remains visible on the cloned issue.
