What is Clone Expert for Jira?

Clone Expert for Jira (formerly Template (Epic) Cloner for Jira) is a powerful tool for cloning items in Jira — Epics, Issues and Sub-tasks. It works on any level of the hierarchy, including items above an Epic (available in Jira Premium and Enterprise), entire hierarchies (Epic → Issues → Sub-tasks), or just individual elements.

You can:

  • Clone complete structures (e.g. Program/Initiative → Epics → Issues → Sub-tasks).

  • Clone a single Epic with or without its children.

  • Clone one or multiple individual work items or Sub-tasks.

All clones preserve comments, attachments, links, labels, watchers and custom fields.

Typical use cases:

  • IT teams – quickly duplicate complex multi-level initiatives.

  • Marketing – reuse full campaign structures with repeatable tasks.

  • HR / Legal – copy procedures, checklists and recurring workflows.

With its intuitive interface, you can perform one-off clones or set up repeatable templates across different Jira projects.

Installation

You can find Clone Expert for Jira on the Atlassian Marketplace.
